As you may have noticed I’ve been crafting away ever since I got my Cricut Maker so today I’m bringing you my Top 5 reasons why I love it so much! I’ll also be showing you a few of my recent holiday projects.
Let’s cut right to the chase! In no particular order, here are my Top 5 reasons I have so much love for this machine.
- The Cricut Maker can cut over 300 materials! From things like wood, leather and delicate paper to everyday iron-on like I’ll be showing you on these customized stockings I created for our family!
- The Design space app is SO easy to use. There are tons of different projects and ways to customize each one. I love how I can connect to my Maker from my phone making it super convenient. For this project I decided to put our names on each stocking. I always loved having a custom one as a child and wanted to share that with my daughter. I started a new project on the app, chose a font and wrote out our names. You can find the link to my project here! All you need to do is change the names and the size you want yours to be. I then selected every day iron-on as my material, placed it on my LightGrip mat and asked the Maker to print our names out 🙂 The app also walks you through each step which is helpful.
- The new quick swap ability to switch out tools is amazing! Depending on the project you do you may need to cut different materials, score, draw, engrave etc and Cricut will pause and allow you to easily swap out the tool your wanting to utilize. This stocking was pretty simple and only required one tool when printing!
- The Maker gives us the capability to create anything we put our minds too. When used in conjunction with other Cricut products like the EasyPress 2 the possibilities are endless! We wrapped up this project by placing our printed out names on each stocking and used our EasyPress to iron on!
- Not only do I love the convenience of having a Maker in our home, but it allows me to create professional level products! This iron-on material on the stocking feels super high end and it will not come off – trust me I even tried to pull a corner up to see 😂. I love how I didn’t have to order a custom stocking online, or work with someone else creating it. Everything was at my own fingertips and gave my daughter and I a special bonding experience to remember. I love how they turned out!
I wanted to further emphasize these points on a couple of other holiday projects I created!
Remember how I said the Maker can cut through a number of materials?! Well, check out when I cut through this basswood to create these stunning wood ornaments. How cute is this initial!
For this project I simply found it in Design space, chose my letters and selected the material I was cutting with. This required a strong grip mat and knife blade.
I taped the basswood to the mat to be sure it didn’t move.
The thing I liked most about this project is once it was finished cutting through the wood, the app is intelligent enough to ask you to check if it cut all the way through or if you want to keep cutting. I was able to repeat this until it was done! I used my TrueControl Knife to pop it out carefully.
And lastly, I created this cute door mat for our entrance!
I came up with a custom design by creating a new project, choosing a font and writing out ‘Merry’. The Maker cut through the stencil vinyl I used which I then peeled and taped to the door mat.
After I taped the stencil so it wouldn’t move, I applied black acrylic paint to the letters with a small paint brush. And it was that easy!
I hope these projects inspired you to create something fun this holiday season! Thank you for reading my Top 5 reasons why I love the Cricut Maker 🥰
