Is there anything more satisfying than switching out a purple 70’s bathroom and replacing it with a shiny new one? 😍
We decided it was time to roll up our sleeves and start another project with Home Hardware. This time we would tackle our main bathroom. Yes, you heard that right. This has been our main bathroom since we bought this house about 4 years ago! Unfortunately there wasn’t much left to salvage aside from our newer light fixture so we demoed everything else. Let’s reflect back on what it looked like.
We started our project by heading to our local store and going over some tile, bathtub and vanity options. The staff is always so knowledgeable and they helped us come up with a plan.
Before making any large choices, I like to envision an overall look or vibe for the room – in this case light and airy. The colour of hardware finishes can greatly impact the selection of products and overall design so I try to decide on that next. We went with brushed nickel on everything to keep it cohesive with our home.
Subway tiles are a beautiful, timeless option for kitchens and bathrooms. There were a ton of great ones to choose from but ultimately we decided on the Urban Series White Glossy 3×6 Tile. As an alternative, I also think 3×12’s look great, especially in a herringbone pattern!
To keep with the light and airy feel we used Carrara Roman Porcelain Tiles for the floor and WOW are they gorgeous or what!? These are larger 12×24 tiles so they were faster to install than the bathtub tiles 🙂 They definitely elevated the look of the entire room.
Before we moved into this acreage we had just finished renovating and selling another home, and the saddest part of moving was leaving behind a new bathroom, especially the bathtub. So you cannot imagine how happy I am to finally have a clean, new one again. NO moving this time! 😅
The Acrylic Bosca Bath Tub by MAAX is elegant with beautiful clean lines. This tub is so versatile that it not only fits into modern styles but more traditional homes too. And the acrylic finish will surely stand the test of time.
You can find the toilet linked here and the toilet seat linked here :).
This vanity by Cutler Kitchen and Bath is a show stopper! It’s part of the Cottage Collection and the model is called ‘Lindsay’. It includes a cultured marble top already which makes the whole selection process so much easier. And there’s tons of room for storage on both sides and underneath the sink! It’s another versatile piece that can work in many bathroom designs. Isn’t she pretty?
The faucet we paired with the vanity is this sleek Zarina model by Moen. It can be used with a countertop that has one or three holes.
I’m a huge fan of handheld shower heads, due to the fact that we make a lot of messes that are just easier to clean in a bathtub with one. From pets to projects and messy kids, it just makes life so much easier! You can find the one we chose by Moen linked here. It also includes a faucet and shower lever! Bonus!
I initially wanted a straight shower bar, but my husband introduced me to the benefits of having more space with a curved rod. This one by Moen is a permanent fixture, so no need to worry about the shower rod falling down (that was a huge problem we had before the reno).
We stuck with the brushed nickel accessories and found this beautiful Moen towel bar, ring and toilet paper holder. I love the classy look of these, and as you can see they also suit the rustic elements in the room.
To warm up the room we brought in some earth toned decor and accessories, as well as some plants. My husband built this toilet ladder for storage which we stained to give it a little extra pop. We found all of the lumber and supplies for this build at Home Hardware.
This large mirror complimented the space well and there will be no fighting over who gets the mirror with this one!
Our bathroom is SO much more inviting and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. This has truly been transformational for our family and made bath time with our daughter more enjoyable. Not only does it look nicer but it’s more functional and much easier to clean now.
This renovation was well worth the wait. I must give a huge thank you to Home Hardware for sponsoring this project! We are so grateful for your expertise and amazing products.
Here’s one more look at our renovation!
